In an unusual move, Maui Jim, the Hawaiian-themed brand of high-performance sunglasses, will be supplying the members of the famous British Manchester United football club – the first team, the academy and the women's teams – with corrective eyewear and sunglasses. As of Feb. 26, moreover, Maui Jim eyewear will be available at retail at the megastore of the team's home stadium in Old Trafford, on the outskirts of Manchester. A co-branded line of eyewear should be released later in the year. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. Founded in 1878, Manchester United has played under its current name since 1902, winning more trophies than any other team in U.K.'s premier football league and earning a worldwide base of fans. Maui Jim was founded in Hawaii in 1980 to specialize in colorful lenses that block UV rays. The company has offices in Hawaii and in Peoria, Illinois.
