In search of better infrastructure, Lyon Mode City’s organizers have decided to move the trade show to the French capital, renaming it Mode City. The first edition will put greater emphasis on swimwear and beachwear and will be held on Sept. 6-8 in Paris, as part of a fashion event called “Paris, Capital de la Mode” at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center. After 24 years of running it in Lyon, Eurovet, the organization behind the show, indicated that the southeastern city lacked the necessary transport and lodging for an increasingly international audience. At its most recent edition, 60 percent of visitors to Lyon Mode City came from abroad, and 70 percent of exhibitors were non-nationals. The last edition of the show however saw the number of French visitors drop by 2,000. Sport Achat, another trade show owned by Eurovet, will remain based at the Eurexpo location in Lyon at least for the upcoming edition March 10-12. Focusing on mountain sports and the outdoors, the show attracts fewer international visitors, and those that come are generally the neighboring Italians or Swiss.
