eVent Fabrics, the US waterproof and breathable membrane supplier, has partnered with Chinese outdoor apparel brand PELLIOT to introduce two PFAS free (per and polyfluoroalkyl substances) laminates across the brand’s mountaineering, hiking and ski lines. The agreement covers eVent’s alpineST and windstormST technologies as PELLIOT expands its next generation product range.
Founded in 2012, PELLIOT is described by eVent as one of China’s fastest growing outdoor apparel brands. The ingredient brand positions the deal as strategically important because adoption by a high volume brand can accelerate the broader shift away from PFAS, beyond niche or premium segments.
eVent vice president Chad Kelly and PELLIOT vice president Zhao Le framed the partnership as a step toward reducing the industry’s reliance on PFAS. Kelly cited PELLIOT’s scale in China as a lever for shifting market expectations. Zhao said the move toward PFAS free, lower carbon textiles is more than a trend, calling it a responsibility for category leading brands.
The partnership comes as PFAS restrictions tighten globally, with the EU and a growing list of national regulators moving to phase out the chemicals in consumer textiles. That regulatory direction increases pressure on brands that source in China to secure compliant alternatives for export markets.
On the product side: alpineST is a membrane laminated with performance face fabrics and backers and finished with a C0 durable water repellent (DWR) coating, designed for high exposure mountaineering use. It will appear in PELLIOT’s SS27 alpineST hard shell jacket. windstormST pairs eVent’s plant based membrane with recycled or lower impact face and backer fabrics, also finished with C0 DWR. It is designed to block wind while shedding light rain and snow, and will feature in PELLIOT’s FW26 windstormST soft shell jacket.
The announcement follows eVent’s earlier moves to complete its PFAS free laminate range and rebrand its plant based technologies, both covered previously by SGIE. For more information about PELLIOT and performance fabrics, consider visiting our sister publication Outdoor Industry Compass.
