Intersport Germany forecast that its members’ sales at retail prices will increase from €2.3 billion to €2.4 billion in 2008 compared with 2007. Without mentioning absolute figures, Intersport records an increase in sales of 8 percent for the first eight months of the current calendar year – which is not the group’s fiscal year ending Sept. 30. The driving forces behind the growth have been football, with an increase at 24 percent thanks to the Euro Cup, running and outdoor. The outdoor segment grew by 14 percent in the first six months and is expected to reach the mark of €500 million at retail prices for the first time ever by the end of the year.
