Intersport opened its biggest flagship store in Europe on Nov. 14 in Graz, Austria. The family business Tscherne, which manages 12 Intersport stores in Austria, invested €6 million, and construction began three months ago. The 7,500-square-meter store includes a 100-square-meter ski hut as well as a tree house and ice rink for kids. Intersport aims to further expand its network of stores in Austria in the near future. To this end, it is currently investing about €15 million. About 70 of the 160 jobs created are at the new store in Graz. Intersport Austria will be opening two additional new stores in Austria – in Salzburg-Bergheim and Linz – by the end of the year. The existing Intersport stores in Ottensheim and Weiz will be renovated.
