Intersport Spain has announced the appointment of Xavier Alomar as its new managing director, indicating that it is intended to better implement its omni-channel development strategy. He will replace Paxti Fernandez, who has held the role since 2016. Alomar, who joined the board of directors of the Spanish buying group in January, has been sitting on the boards of various companies and start-ups in the retail and internet sectors. He worked for a supermarket chain owned by the Eroski group and ran the Retail Textura chain in the last nine years. Intersport Spain, which has been given the license to move into Portugal, federates 112 retailers with 323 stores.
