ISPO was the occasion to launch the first collection of protective adult and children’s skiwear under the name with Marc Girardelli, the world ski champion whose children’s skiwear has been licensed since four years ago to Liegelind. The new more technical lines have been licensed to the new W&O Sports Division of the Hebestriet Group, a company based in Hong Kong that owns Liegelind, Toni Dress and other fashion brands. The new division is headed up by Hans Werkle, who has worked for several years in the same group. Martin Wunderlich, founder of Liegelind, went to school in Austria with Girardelli. The new Marc Giradelli line will be sold in high-end specialized sports stores with a mark-up offer of 2.5 for retailers. The products have been designed by Girardelli to help protect the shoulder, elbows, back and hips, and an extra layer can be removed at the elbows to allow for freer movement or facilitate washing. W&O has been setting up a distribution network for the line since last October, consisting for the moment of independent agents in Germany, the UK, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Poland and Russia. It is still looking for agents in Scandinavia, the USA and Canada.
