Jarden Corp., which bought K2 and Pure Fishing one year ago, says its consolidated sales jumped by 47 percent to $1.2 billion in the first quarter ended March 31, generating earnings close to analysts’ estimates of around $15.4 million thanks to early synergetic effects. Meanwhile the marketing unit of Tubbs, the American brand of snowshoes acquired by K2 in October 2003, will be moved from Stowe, Vermont, to K2’s global headquarters in Seattle later this year. Manufacturing and other operations had already been incorporated into K2 Sports in 2006. Tubbs’ marketing organization will by run by Charles Lozner, brand director of the K2 Outdoor Group. Kathy Murphy, a key member of Tubbs’ staff for the last 15 years, will remain as a consultant through next October.
