Closing its final lot of Dutch retailers, JD Sports’ Perry Sport, Aktiesport and Sprinter stores will shutter on Tuesday. Curator Kees van de Meent confirmed to De Telegraaf the closure of the last six branches, operated under JD’s subsidiary Sports Unlimited Retail, which went bankrupt in 2023.
While the British Frasers Group expressed interest in taking over up to 20 stores, negotiations with landlords will determine the actual number. The fate of other Sports Unlimited Retail locations remains uncertain.
Originally acquired from the bankruptcy of United Sports Group in 2016, Aktiesport and Perry Sport were slated to transition into the Spanish sister company, Sprinter. However, renovations stalled when Sports Unlimited Retail filed for bankruptcy.
