Joma, the Spanish sports apparel and footwear brand specializing in football, is moving into the cricket market through a contract to outfit the West Indies team. The deal was announced two days before the start of the 2015 Cricket World Cup, which is held in Australia and New Zealand from 14 Feb. until 29 March, and the team started wearing their Joma kit at their first game against Ireland. The West Indies cricket team is a multi-national squad comprising 15 mostly English-speaking Carribean countries and dependencies, such as Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada and Saint Lucia. Joma's appearance at the World Cup with the “Windies” was described as a high-profile launching pad for the Spanish brand in international cricket. The contract between Joma and the West Indies Cricket Board, covering both the men's and women's teams, is to run until 2017.
