Klaus Jost has been unanimously elected by the supervisory board of Intersport International Corporation to be its new chairman. Jost, 48, is the chief executive of Intersport Deutschland, the biggest single national organization within IIC.
An experienced marketing-oriented executive with an international vision, Jost worked in the managament of Sport 2000 in Germany before doing a similar job at Intersport’s German organization. He joined IIC’s board in 2002 as vice chairman. Jost replaces John Forzani, the 62-year-old executive who runs the eponymous Canadian chain after six years of chairmanship.
Jussi Mikkola, a director of IIC and a top executive of Kesko from Finland who has spearheaded many successful initiatives at Intersport, will take Jost’s position as vice chairman. Two new board members, François Bariaud from France and Mikael Kold from Denmark, are joining Jost, Mikkola and Marco Giunta from Italy on the board to take the places left vacant by the departure of Forzani and Roland Garrigou from France.
