Jussi Ristimäki has unexpectedly resigned as president and chief executive of Rapala VMC, the Finnish maker of fishing tackle. Louis d'Alançon, chairman of the Finnish-based group, has assumed the post pending the search for a permanent successor. Ristimäki had been leading a recovery plan and was purportedly making progress toward restoring growth. He will be an “advisor to the board of directors” until March 27, 2020. Ristimäki was hired in 2007 as the group's tax and risk manager. He was previously vice president of taxation at Outokumpu Oyj, a Finnish manufacturer of stainless steel. Rapala VMC recently acquired 49 percent of the shares in a U.S. brand of fishing tackle, 13 Fishing, so as to enter the global rod and reel market.
