Kanabeach, the 20-year-old youthful fashion brand from the Brittany region of France, is going to open its first foreign subsidiary in London as part of a strategy to increase its export sales from 10 to 30 percent of sales within the next three years. The British subsidiary is being headed by Donna Breakwell, who previously worked for Mango and Quiksilver. Kanabeach has also signed two licensing contracts: a fragrance and beauty contract with Itac and a shoe licensing contract with the Royer group. The first shoe collection is for Spring 2008 and will be sold in multi-brand stores and Kanabeach’s own stores, which number 20 after the latest store opening in Lille. In France, the company is launching its first national billboard advertising campaign in September 2007, in a bid to raise its total turnover to €30 million by 2008 from the 2006 level of €20 million. Kanabeach’s international expansion is led by Jean-Marc Niwinski, who led Columbia Sportswear’s European operations for many years.
