Karl Heinz Salzburger, who heads up the International Outdoor Coalition of VF Corp., succeeded in part in his Himalayan challenge last month. He completed the ascent of the 6,182-meter-high Island Peak, but he did not make it to the top of the Ama Dablam because of stormy weather. Due tor professional obligations, he and his team gave up at the altitude of 5,800 meters. Meanwhile VF’s Outdoor Coalition continues to report wonders in Europe, where The North Face scored a sales of more than 35 percent in dollar terms during the 1st quarter of this year. Vans’ sales more than doubled. Napapijri went up by 60 percent. Kipling rose by more than 15 percent.
