Kjus has boosted its design, product management and marketing unit run by Nico Serena, by appointing three experienced professionals. Terence Sanford, a British national, is joining the Swiss-based company as its new head of design. A Swiss manager, Tom Schumacher, is being placed in charge of the accessories department, and Bettina Grabher from Austria is taking over as head of marketing communication and digital marketing.
Sanford has more than 14 years of experience in the sports, textile and fashion industries. He has worked for Rip Curl, Adidas, Nike and Puma. He is credited for having revived the Active Lifestyle segment at Puma, where he also took care of styling for Usain Bolt and his Jamaican Olympic team. Sanford takes the place of Kjus' former head of design, Birgit Füllgraff.
Schumacher fills a new position. He has worked for several sports brands including Billabong, Quiksilver and Palmer. At the Scott Sports Group, he was responsible for the global development of its protection gear, gloves and bags. As a freelancer, he developed several years ago a GSM/Bluetooth glove with integrated headset for Kjus.
Grabher, who joined the company already in January, has been leading strategic marketing programs for more than 14 years at several companies including Adecco and Dow. She led co-branded consumer campaigns around new stretch fabrics in cooperation with such brands as Nike and Calvin Klein.
As usual, the company declines to provide details about its turnover or profitability, but says that its relatively new golf collection has been selling very well, doubling its revenues in the past spring/summer season.
