Kristjan Luha became the new general manager for Nike in Greece a few weeks ago after the retirement of Michael Malamatinas, who led the American brand's Greek subsidiary for more than seven years. Luha, who joined Nike in 1997, was most recently sales director for Nike Russia. Malamatinas was involved with the Nike brand for many years since he previously worked with Elmec, Nike's former distributor for Greece and Cyprus, and still its partner in Bulgaria and Romania. Malamatinas steered the transition to a subsidiary in 2005 and took particularly bold steps to overhaul the Nike organization in Greece, to deal more efficiently with hundreds of small retailers.
