Lacoste made its catwalk debut during Paris Fashion Week with a show at the Tennis Club de Paris, in the elegant 16th district of France's capital city, not far from the venue of the Roland Garros tournament. The collection, for autumn/winter 2019, is inspired by the sportswear roots of the brand, and is filled with urban and contemporary elements. The iconic Lacoste crocodile, designed in 1927 by Robert George, is showcased on the items while also being updated in various ways, from tonal embroidery to patchwork and leather accessories. It is the first collection designed for Lacoste by Louise Trotter, the British fashion designer who joined the brand as its new creative director in October 2018, and the first woman to hold that role at the French heritage brand, as reported at the time by SGI Europe (Vol. 29 n° 33+34 of 31/10/2018).
