Last April Snipes, the sneaker retail chain that has belonged to the Deichmann group since 2011, took over Kicks USA, a retail chain specializing in  sneakers, athletic shoes and clothing, with 64 stores in eastern part of the U.S. Now it has acquired Mr. Alan's Men's Bootery, another sneaker chain based in Detroit. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Founded in 1974, Mr. Alan's Men's Bootery currently has 31 stores – operating under the Mr. Alan's, Soles and Pogo retail banners – in the metropolitan areas of Detroit and Chicago and in Florida. The American retail chain specializes in shoes, apparel and accessories from brands such as Nike, Timberland, Jordan, Adidas and New Era. Deichmann, the big family-owned German-based shoe retailer that also owns Ochsner Sport in Switzerland, made its first acquisition in the U.S. in 1984 with the purchase of Lerner Shoes, which resulted in the launch of the Rack Room Shoes chain. Together with the Off Broadway chain, which it took over in 2001, Deichmann was operating more than 520 stores in the U.S. at the end of 2018.
