Lidl, the large German discount retail chain, will be prohibited from selling any Sympatex branded items following a temporary court injunction granted to Sympatex Technologies, which had caught the retailer advertising trekking shoes fraudulently labeled with its patented material. Sympatex tested the Chinese-made trekking shoes that were being advertised and established that they fell short of the water vapor transmission criteria for the upper material of the inner lining as well as the waterproof criteria.
