Like Intersport, the Tréndico Group – formerly Twinner Iberia – intends to set up shop in Portugal by next year. The Spanish group opened one of its lifestyle-oriented Foot on Mars stores on 250 square meters in the British colony of Gibraltar in May and plans to inaugurate e-commerce for Atleet in September. E-commerce for Foot on Mars has been operational since April 2018. The group's president, Carlos Tejero, recently told CMD Sport that negotiations were underway with three as-yet-unnamed investors in Portugal. All are interested in the Foot on Mars brand, and two are interested in two other banners of Tréndico, N°1 en Zapatillas and Atleet. Tejero believes it possible, too, that current Tréndico members in Spain might also wish to invest in the neighboring country. The number of potential points of sale in Portugal remains unspecified, but they are likely to be situated in tourist areas. There is already a Foot on Mars store in the small Pyrenees country of Andorra. Atleet is Tréndico's newest brand, its first store having opened last year in Ciudad Real, Spain. There are now ten Atleet stores, with more to come in Lugo, Córdoba, Jaén, Seville and elsewhere in Spain. Over the next year, moreover, some 40 Twinner stores will be converted to the Atleet brand. By May 2020, then, there could be as many as 70 Atleet points of sale.
