Macron, the Italian sportswear firm based in Bologna, has ranked third among the technical sponsors of European football championships. According to a recent report by IQUII Sport, a business unit of IQUII, Macron now has a market share of 10.5 percent, up from the previous 9.7 percent. The IQUII's report is based on the analysis of 37 sports brands that sponsor 238 football clubs competing in the main European championships, in Italy, Spain, Portugal, England, Germany and France.

Macron is the first brand, as far as the Italian Serie A is concerned, with six clubs, including Bologna FC 1909, Spal, Lazio, Cagliari, Udinese and Verona. Macron is also the technical sponsor of clubs, other than the six above, in other countries with deals with Dinamo Bucarest in Romania and Bruges in Belgium, among others. Furthermore, Macron is also the Official UEFA referee match kit supplier.

Most recently, Macron has announced a new technical partnership deals with two football teams, Incheon United FC and Sandviken. Incheon competes in the K- League 1, the top flight of South Korean football. The partnership, which will initially last for five years, marks a significant strategic step for Macron on the Asian market, the company said. Sandviken, based in Bergen, competes in the Toppserien, the top division for women's football in Norway.

The Italian company continues to diversify its involvement in different sports. It has just announced that it will be the official technical sponsor of the Bologna Marathon on March 1, 2020.
