The Fink family, which runs a major German chain of sports and shoe shops mainly located in the southwestern region of the country, has sold its shares to the company’s managing director, Günther Nold. He has worked for Fink Schuhe + Sport since 1982 and has been managing partner since 1986. Nold told this publication that he already held 25 percent of the shares and that he now controls the company entirely, effective Jan. 1.

In 2009, the Fink group had sales of €60 million and operated 53 stores. Forty-three of them are shoe stores, eight are sports shops and two of them are what the company calls Exklusivgeschäfte (“exclusive shops”). This format is dedicated to higher-end fashion labels such as Prada. The number of employees is around 650.

Nold said that the company is planning two shop openings this year in the south of Germany, but these stores are going to be shoe stores and not sports shops.
