The next evolutionary stage in functional clothing is called “intelligent warmth.” With iWarm, brands have a solution that integrates active temperature management directly into clothing, opening up new possibilities for comfort, function, and product differentiation.

The boundaries between classic outdoor clothing and urban everyday fashion are becoming increasingly blurred. Functional jackets, midlayers, and technical pants are now worn not only for outdoor activities, but also in everyday life - for example, when commuting, cycling, or during spontaneous outdoor activities.

This also changes the requirements for functional clothing: Products must not only protect against wind and weather, but also adapt flexibly to different situations and activity levels - for example, between indoors and outdoors, or between active phases and rest breaks. Classic insulation materials can only compensate for these fluctuations to a limited extent. Active thermal solutions, on the other hand, offer the possibility of specifically controlling the microclimate in the garment, thus creating a more consistent level of comfort.

At the same time, many technical features in performance apparel have already become standard. Waterproofness, insulation, and breathability are now expected across most product categories. For brands, technologies that deliver additional value and enable clear differentiation are therefore becoming increasingly important.

Intelligent temperature management represents a new functional dimension for modern apparel.

iWarm: Intelligent heating solution for functional clothing brands

iWarm was specifically designed for integration into functional clothing. The system combines heating modules, temperature sensors, and intelligent controls to actively manage the garment’s temperature.

Unlike traditional heated products, iWarm does more than just provide additional warmth; it detects temperature conditions, regulates the heating output, and stabilizes the microclimate inside the garment.

iWarm is based on heating film technology that uses highly efficient carbon nanotube (CNT) material to quickly and efficiently convert electrical energy into heat. This technology enables even temperature distribution and prevents local overheating, which occurs with conventional heating elements.

An integrated sensor system continuously monitors temperature conditions. In combination with control algorithms, the system adjusts the heating output to ensure a stable heat level while maintaining efficient energy consumption.

Three control modes for different needs

iWarm has three control modes. The standard version offers manual control, version 3.0 includes a Bluetooth connection, and version 5.0 has an AI mode.

  • Standard mode: Control via three heating levels (38 °C, 45 °C, 50 °C) using a manual controller
  • Bluetooth mode: Control via app with stepless adjustment between 38 and 50 °C
  • AI mode: Automatic adjustment of heating power to the environment and activity level

This user-friendly multimode system allows brands to adapt to different needs depending on the target group and product category.

Integration into a wide range of clothing categories

iWarm components can be easily and discreetly incorporated into textile constructions or shoes without restricting the design. The technology is already being used in many different categories, including

  • Outdoor and winter sports jackets
  • Mid layers
  • Pants
  • Base layers
  • Gloves and socks
  • Shoes
  • Sleeping bags

The heating elements are lightweight and flexible, so they do not affect the fit or freedom of movement of the garments. Their modular design allows them to be integrated into different clothing styles and product lines.

The technology is also washable and built for everyday use. Rigorous testing under various conditions, such as moisture, bending, static charge, and salty environments, guarantees long-term durability. Authorities have certified that the system meets all safety requirements and can be used with confidence.

Creating new opportunities for apparel brands

For apparel brands, intelligent heating technology opens up new possibilities not only in terms of performance but also in product positioning.

Garments equipped with active temperature management can deliver higher perceived value, support premium pricing strategies, and create new product categories that bridge traditional insulation and wearable technology.

As the boundaries between outdoor performance, urban mobility, and everyday fashion continue to evolve, intelligent warmth solutions offer brands a way to bring meaningful innovation to the market.

Support for brands: From product integration to communication

Beyond providing the technology itself, iWarm works closely with apparel brands as a solution partner.

The team supports brands throughout the product development process — from integrating heating systems into garment structures to developing category-based product solutions and optimizing user interaction.

In addition, iWarm assists partners with product storytelling and technology communication, helping brands clearly convey the benefits of intelligent heating to consumers.

iWarm will present its latest solutions at Performance Days Munich on March 18 and 19, 2026, at booths F03, F04, and F05.
