The new Kickback platform aims to democratize footwear design and production.

London Sneaker School, the educational institution that offers specialized shoemaking courses and customization course workshops in the heart of London, has launched a platform to help creators bring their ideas to life. The new Kickback platform enables anyone who can design a sneaker to launch it and sell it, turning the sneaker industry into a community-led business environment.

By backing a shoe early, supporters do not just get the shoe. They earn “Kickbacks,” such as lifetime rewards ranging from financial returns to early access to future releases. Passive consumers are transformed into active stakeholders who can contribute to the success of a shoe they help bring to life.

Kickback’s debut release, SKL, is a footwear collection born out of the London Sneaker School. Each sneaker silhouette is made into open-source patterns that anyone can download and remix.

To celebrate the launch, Kickback and London Sneaker School have organized a series of events during London Fashion Week, including a panel talk on decentralizing fashion, hands-on dye workshops and a launch party for the debut footwear collection.
