Markus Stoeckl, one of Shimano’s official test riders, has set a new world record for serially produced mountain bikes when he reached a speed of 210.4km/hr in Chile’s Alps. He relied completely on components provided to him by Shimano Europe like a Saint crankset and rear derailleur and the new Deore XT disc brakes. Eric Barone set a record of 222 km/hr eight years ago by riding a prototype mountain bike for speed racing on the snow.
