Mavic USA, the U.S. subsidiary of the French company in Masschusetts, is recalling approximately 12,000 of its bicycles with R-SYS front wheel rims that were made by its sister company, Salomon SAS, in France. The spokes on the front wheel rim can break during use. The recall pertains to R-SYS and R-SYS Premium front wheel rims, which were sold as original equipment on various bicycles between May 2007 and December 2008. Consumers are advised to contact their bike retailer for a free replacement front rim.
