McDavid and Shock Doctor, the two athletic protection providers that recently merged, have announced the signing of Harrison Barnes as their first dual-brand athlete ambassador. The 2015 NBA champion, who plays for the Golden State Warriors, will wear McDavid's line of Hex protective arm and leg sleeves on the court, to raise awareness of the usage of protective apparel in basketball. In addition, Barnes will use a Shock Doctor mouthguard, while being a major testimonial of Shock Doctor's safety campaign, which addresses the importance of mouthguards, especially for young athletes. American football and hockey are commonly considered the most dangerous youth sports in the U.S. while a study from the National Athletic Trainers' Association has reported more than 400,000 basketball-related injuries per year among youth players.
