Skimeter is an innovative French company that markets Docmeter, a brand of protective equipment for various sports including skiing, snowboarding, biking and skating. It also has patents on other products including the Air System, which customizes a helmet through a combination of internal airbags. Another innovative product by Skimeter is the Flexmeter, a flexible wrist protection used notably by snowboarders and skaters.
The company is being renamed Docmeter and is moving into the office in Annecy of MedAtletic, the company recently founded by Serge Darcy, a former top executive of the NBA, Salomon, New Balance and Compex, specializing in the distribution of items for sports medicine and injury prevention.
MedAtletic has acquired a 70 percent stake in Skimeter from its founder, a physician by the name of Marc-Hervé Binet, who will continue to run Docmeter’s product development. MedAtletic is going to handle sales of the products through an expanded network of agents in France and Spain.
