Members of Intersport Nederland, the Dutch buying group, have set up an investment fund that will enable them to finance projects independently from Intres, the larger buying group to which Intersport Nederland belongs. At least 60 members have pledged to contribute to the fund. One of its first projects is to create an e-commerce business, due to become operational from November. The webshop should be owned at 80 percent by the Intersport Nederland investment fund, while Intres and Kortingswinkel.nl should hold 10 percent each. Intersport Nederland sees the investment as a defensive move to counter the advances of other e-merchants in the sports industry.
