Michael Burk has been appointed as chief executive at 21 Sports Group, after Jörg Mayer, the founder and largest shareholder of the online sports retailer, became chairman of the supervisory board. The changes also led to the appointment of Henner Schwarz as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Both Burk and Schwarz were previously managing directors for 21 Sports Group, and they are in charge of Planet Sports and VR Bike, two of the group's subsidiaries. Frank Zwirner, the group's chief technology officer, is a member of the management group and he was appointed managing director of Mysportgroup, another subsidiary of 21 Sports Group. Zwirner will thus be running Vaola, the online marketplace acquired by the German company earlier this year. The changes come after steady expansion for the online retail group, including the acquisition of Vaola as well as the growth of Planet Sports. Mayer said in a statement that, after building up the company in the last five years, he would focus on its external growth.
