Michael Dorell assumed the role of joint managing director at Chiemsee last December. He worked before as head of the kids' division at Mexx. Previously, he worked for four years as country manager for the Benelux countries at s.Oliver and for nine years as chief executive of his own company, Anywhere, which distributed various sportswear brands in Germany. Dorell will share the management of Chiemsee with Cornelia Schmidt, chief executive and co-owner of the Schmidt Group, which owns Chiemsee and is a licensee of Kappa. She will now concentrate more on the Kappa brand, while Dorrell will take care of Chiemsee's product development, distribution and marketing. Logistics and finance for the brand are managed directly by the Schmidt Group, which recorded total sales of €146 million in 2013, a double-digit increase as compared to 2012. Chiemsee plans to concentrate on its core markets - Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux. The brand has also diversified its product range by separating the snowboard and ski product lines and expanding its line of ski apparel.
