Mikhel Ruia, 24, started a transition period on Sept. 2 as managing director designate of Glenmuir, the Scottish golf knitwear and clothing company taken over by the Indian Ruia Group in 2002. He will work for a while side by side with the current 66-year-old managing director, Colin Mee, who will be relinquishing his duties gradually. At the same time, Mikhel Ruia's father, Vimal Ruia, is taking on the new position of non-executive chairman. Mikhel Ruia, who has been working lately at JP Morgan Cazenove, is joining the company as it gears up for next year's Ryder Cup, which will be played in Scotland for the first time since 1973. Glenmuir, which has been the Preferred Supplier of shirts and knitwear to the European Ryder Cup Team since 1987, has become profitable, nearly doubling its annual turnover to just over £10 million (€12.0m-$16.2m), under the management of Mee, who started running the company in connection with its takeover 11 years ago.
