Moncler has announced the appointment of Sandra Jovicic as president of North American operations. She will replace Joseph J. Barrato, who is set to retire at the end of June after more than 50 years in the apparel industry. Jovicic was most recently with Cacci & Co. Advisors, a consultancy firm specializing in the luxury industry. Before that, she was executive vice president of specialty retail with Tommy Hilfiger North America, and she has also worked with such brands as Bottega Veneta, Cerruti and Armani Group, among others. According to a report in the Italian press, Moncler is exploring the possibility of selling some assets to focus on its core business. This could imply the sale of the Henry Cotton's and Marina Yachting brands, for which Korean and Japanese groups have allegedly shown some interest. Moncler was founded by French entrepreneur René Ramillon in 1952. To mark its 60th anniversary, the clothing brand is set to organize a special event during the Women's Fashion Week in Paris on Sept. 29, at a location still to be determined.
