Marcos Garzos is returning to his native Barcelona to act as general manager of Nike Iberia in the place of Carlos Homédes, who was dispatched by the group to the U.S. head office in August to take charge of Nike’s global football business. Garzos worked most recently at Nike EMEA in the Netherlands as retail brand presentation director for Western Europe, a position that is now being filled by Pamela Neferkara.
The 41-year-old Garzos has been working for the Swoosh for 15 years. Among other tasks, he took care of marketing at Nike Iberia between 2003 and 2008 before moving to the European office.
Neferkara joined Nike in 1999 as marketing director for the Jordan brand. She then held a number of retail-related roles in the U.S. before leading retail presentation activities in the U.S. brand management team.
In 2003, as general manager of U.S. digital commerce, she led Nike’s online presence in the U.S., doubling revenues in two years. Her work there established the strategic model for the launch of NikeStore.com in EMEA.
A founding member of the Nike Global Women’s Leadership, Neferkara joined the group’s global retail brand presentation team in 2007 and has since served in various roles including the management of a women’s training program and responsibility for strategic planning.
