New Balance has developed a proprietary process to create hyper-customized spike plates for runners based on their individual biomechanical data. The plates are made at the company's U.S. facilities through a 3D printing process that makes use of selective laser sintering to convert powder materials into solid cross-sections, layer by layer. New Balance is making the plates available to its sponsored athletes.
