New Balance has kicked off the new year with an inspirational campaign based on a series of letters written by athletes to their “future selves,” which highlight how the goals and values of athletes drive their decisions. The letters are published on a new online content platform: The Players' Tribune. The timing of the launch purposely coincides with the beginning of a new year, when people typically make resolutions for self-improvement and new projects and focus on redefining personal ambitions. The launch of the campaign features Boris Berian and Alexis Sablone. Berian is the American middle distance runner who went from cooking fast food to Olympic finalist and world champion runner in 18 months. Alexis Sablone is the pro skater and female X Games gold medalist who is also an MIT graduate in architecture. Starting Feb. 13, the campaign will feature Milos Raonic, the rising star in tennis who is now world No. 3 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranking.
