New Balance has named Jonathan Ram as its new managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective April 1. Based in the UK, he will replace Alistair Cameron who has left to pursue other opportunities. His stated goal is to double the market share of New Balance in the region every three years. Ram, 39, previously served as international business manager for the American company. He acted as national sales manager for Canada, starting in 2002, and subsequently became country manager, strengthening the brand’s market share in the country, where it is bigger than ASICS. He moved to Boston in December 2005 to take care of the Latin American region and of the brand’s global marketing and apparel initiatives. No specific action is planned in Italy or in the rest of Europe over the next few months, as Ram plans to check out the situation first, listening to retailers and to the members of his team. Prior to New Balance, Ram worked at Roots, in the U.S. National Basketball Association and at Major League Baseball.
