New Balance has purchased Brine, an American company that produces equipment for lacrosse, field hockey, football and volleyball, for an undisclosed sum. Greg Cattrano, national sales manager for Warrior Lacrosse, acquired by New Balance in 2004, will be in charge of Brine’s sales. Brine will remain at its headquarters in Massachusetts. Separately, New Balance has introduced a new Zip technology, involving a series of struts placed at the heel to control and utilizing shifts in pressure and weight on the sole.
