New Era, the American marketer of headwear, has appointed Laurence Joslin marketing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this position he will report to Paul Gils, New Era's vice president in charge of the EMEA region. Joslin has a long record in the sporting goods industry. Over the past ten years, he held various positions at Nike Europe's headquarters in the Netherlands, including marketing director of the Swoosh's European retail operations. He was also responsible for Nike's marketing campaign around the Olympic Games in London last year and the introduction of the Nike+ FuelBand, first in the U.K., and then in the entire EMEA region. Joslin also established Nike Skateboard in Europe. Before his time at Nike, he worked with Salomon and Berghaus.
