Nike and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) have announced an 11-year partnership agreement covering FIBA's men's, women's and youth flagship competitions globally. Under the terms of the agreement, Nike becomes the official partner for product - spanning apparel, footwear and equipment - and marketing at FIBA's biggest competitions. Specifically, the agreement sees the American sports brand acquire official sponsorship rights for FIBA Basketball World Cups (2019, 2023 and 2027) and Qualifiers, FIBA Women's Basketball World Cups, FIBA Continental Cups and Qualifiers, FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, FIBA U17 and U19 Basketball World Cups. The agreement also sees Nike become the title partner for FIBA's World Rankings, in addition to FIBA licensing rights. As part of the agreement, both Nike and Fiba will promote the sport through marketing communication and the engagement of top players and ambassadors. FIBA has recently announced significant changes to its qualifying system, which will lead to an increased schedule. The new scheme will feature up to 1,200 international contests in the lead-up to FIBA Basketball World Cup, the federation's showcase event.
