Nike has created the Leak Protection: Period, an ultrathin, absorbent liner that helps protect against period leaks. The company said that periods could be a barrier to sport and movement for teens and adults, and Leak Protection is meant to provide extra comfort and confidence. Nike designers combined a two-layer laminate gusset and liner, which absorbs, wicks and holds blood, with a membrane that acts as an anti-leakage barrier. They created and tested more than 30 prototypes to find the right fit for movement and comfort. The Nike Leak Protection: Period will debut for women and girls in the Nike One Short silhouette, available in early April. For Nike’s elite women footballers, the company offers Leak Protection: Period in their base layer, the Nike Pro Short.
