Nike has announced a new collaboration with the Climate CoLab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a project to seek new ideas for low-impact fabrics and textiles. Prior to this announcement, the sporting goods firm had recently pledged to reach 100 percent renewable energy in company-owned and -operated facilities by 2025. Nike has also launched the Making App, which is said to help designers, product creators and users make better decisions about their materials choices. The app, which is powered by the Nike Materials Sustainability Index, includes comparisons of the energy used and greenhouse gases created during the production of each material, among other features.
