Nike has appointed Chris Abston as vice president and corporate controller, to become the company's principal accounting officer from the start of August. Abston joins from Wal-Mart Stores, where he held top accounting and controlling jobs for the last six years, after 25 years in public accounting with Ernst & Young. Nike said its current principal accounting officer, Bernie Pliska, is to retire from this position at the end of July. Abston is to supervise Nike's financial statements, including accounting, financial reporting and financial operations, according to a regulatory filing.
