Nike has just opened a new community football training center in Soweto, South Africa. It will help 20,000 young people develop their football skills every year, as well as provide programs to enhance life skills and educate about HIV/AIDS. The day the center opened, Nike announced the winners of its Nike Red grants, which increase funding for programming to educate youth about HIV/AIDS prevention through sport. Twenty-six organizations in 16 African countries will split the $450,000 in grants.
