Nike is investing more in football after its divestiture of Umbro. The Swoosh has taken over from the former Nike subsidiary the sponsorship of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). This organization groups a variety of professional and amateur men's and women's soccer leagues in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, including for example the Super Y-League, the Next Generation Series and Major Beach Soccer. USL also comprises the operations of the former Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) in theU.S., which it took over in 2011. It does not include Major League Soccer, which is sponsored by Adidas. Separately, Nike has extended its sponsorship agreement with the Corinthians, the major football team in São Paulo, until 2022. According to reports from Brazil, the deal is worth $144 million, making it the most expensive one in the history of Brazilian football.
