Nike is launching a sports bra that features its Flyknit technology, which is normally used in its footwear. Nike first used the technology for its Flyknit Racer shoe on the occasion of the London 2012 Olympics. The Flyknit technology is based on a digital knitting process that allows for a seamless, lightweight and flexible upper to the shoe. The Flyknit material is currently used across multiple footwear designs, and for the first time Nike has used it to develop a sports bra. The brand said it is also considering using Flyknit technology for other items of clothing. The new bra is called the Fe/Nom Flyknit Bra. Its design uses two panels and one seam, as opposed to typical sports bras which can be made of 40 pieces and 20 seams or more.
