Nike is standing by Tiger Woods in the wake of a bizarre car accident that may or may not have been the result of a fight with his Swedish wife, Elin Nordegren, over numerous affairs by the golf star. Woods pulled out of the Chevron World Challenge in early December, but the Swoosh said in a statement, “Nike supports Tiger and his family. Our relationship remains unchanged.” Woods is the main face on the $700 million Nike Golf business, and signed a five-year deal with the company in January 2007 for $100 million. The Financial Times reports that other companies that Woods endorses, such as EA Sports, Gatorade and Gillette, have all said they will continue to support him as well, though Gatorade has pulled its Tiger Woods sports drink. Meanwhile, there is an unconfirmed rumor that Woods’ Swedish wife, a 29-year-old former model, is considering an offer to endorse products by Tretorn, the Swedish brand owned by Puma.
