Nike wants to source all of its electricity from renewable energy by 2025, it was announced by the The Climate Group last week. Eric Sprunk, Nike's chief operating officer, is quoted as saying in a press release that the group is proud to join RE100 – an ambitious global campaign conducted by The Climate Group in partnership with CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) to encourage influential companies to commit to 100 percent renewable energy, to reduce CO² emissions and seize the business benefits. Nike apparently did so at the Climate Week NYC event. RE100 was launched at the same event last year with companies such as Ikea, H&M, Nestlé and Unilever. The Climate Group reports that 36 major companies are on board with a goal to achieve 100 percent renewable energy. Besides Nike, the list includes Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Starbucks, Walmart and several others that joined last week.
