Oakley has signed a deal to acquire OSA Holding and its retail subsidiary, The Optical Shop of Aspen, which comprises 14 luxury eyewear stores in the USA. Larry Sands, who founded OSA in 1970, will continue as chief executive of the retail network, which will be run independently from Oakley’s more down-market Iacon chain of 104 sunglass stores. Sands will maintain independent ownership of OSA’s wholesale operations. Oakley describes the takeover as a continuation of a new focus on the more fashion-oriented eyewear market, which began with the acquisition of Oliver Peoples a few weeks ago (more in EyeWear Intelligence).
