Patricia Doran, a well-known and respected American fashion designer and fashion journalist, has passed away. John Horan, former editor of Sportstyle and current editor of the American edition of Sporting Goods Intelligence, calls her “the first lady of sports fashion.” She began her career in fashion journalism at Ski Magazine and became the fashion editor of SportStyle when the magazine was founded in 1978. She subsequently helped John and the editor of SGI Europe to launch their respective fashion forecasts for the American and European editions of Sporting Goods Intelligence, a service that lasted for only a few years. Doran seemed to know just about everyone in the industry and was admired by all for her sense of style, professionalism and dedication. She spent most of her later years in Mexico, living with friends, but spent her final time back in New York with her sons, Michael and Patrick.
